Course Description
Designed to serve as an easily approachable entry-level course appropriate for all students, our First Response Fundamentals course adapts the trauma skills used by emergency personnel, healthcare providers, military personnel, and tactical units for use in daily life. This course provides an in-depth but easy approach to effective emergency response, allowing responders to maximize their effectiveness and safety within the chaotic environments inherent to emergency situations and manage life-threatening traumatic injuries, saving lives.
During the course, each student will learn:
• How to respond to an emergency safely and effectively.
• The difference between a first aid kit and a trauma kit and the role of each.
• How to identify and select the components to build a quality trauma kit.
• How the body responds to injuries and how to identify shock.
• The skills necessary to manage life-threatening traumatic injuries.
• How to use tourniquets, hemostatic agents, pressure bandages, chest seals, and more!
• How to communicate effectively with other emergency responders.
